(03,23,2023) Dichotomy means division into halves or pairs, such as having two opposed or contradictory groups. On the one hand, we have opposing parties like the Liberals and Conservatives in Canada, or Democrats and Republicans in the United States. Many other countries, in the free world, are subject to very similar circumstances. On the other hand, we have the countries of the free world opposing the evil dictators of the communist run countries like China, Russia and North Korea. This situation places ordinary citizens, like you and me, ‘between a rock and a hard place’. Should one vote for the party of their own choosing, one is considered the enemy by those of the opposing party, regardless of the fact that we are supposed to be living in a free society. This extreme polarization of most political parties does not serve anyone well, except for those who have political ambitions simply to fulfill their lust for power, and the need to put themselves ahead of everyone else. Such politicians are only in it for themselves. Over a century ago, a very famous United States President, Teddy Roosevelt, built a solid reputation as he fought hard to eliminate just these sort of corrupt politicians. This kind of attitude is what first got him elected. And his steadfast determination to practice the belief that the elected party was there to serve all of the people, and not cater to any one party, is what got him re-elected by an overwhelming majority, for a second term. President Theodore Roosevelt frowned upon division and welcomed anybody who was willing to serve the country, and not the party. To disagree with a family member, friend or neighbour over the political agenda of their chosen party, is not, nor should ever be, reason for conflict or war. Such issues must be discussed or debated in a calm and rational way. What ever happened to the time when one never discussed nor revealed their party of choice, specifically not amongst family members? There was a reason for that. Those were more peaceful times! In days past, one accepted the leader who was voted in by the majority of the people in their country. Then, all one could do was hope and pray that the leader would respond to the needs and demands of all the people. At least then there was peace, or a semblance thereof. However, unfortunately, today’s society has nurtured the same old hatred, ignorance and distrust which had festered in the souls of many Americans, one hundred and sixty years ago, until it broke up the United States of America into two warring factions. Surely, nobody wants to see a repeat of such a devastating conflict, the Civil War, which took hundreds of thousands of American lives, American killing American! Nobody, that is, except the sons and daughters of said confederates, supremacists who now march under the banner of nationalism, and the corrupt politicians who are willing to use them, in order that they may rule in their very own form of dictatorship! And now, we have the very same so-called ‘patriots’ attempting to invade Canada and infest this beautiful country with malefic supremacists who wish to take dichotomy to a whole new level, spewing nothing but hatred and distrust for the Liberal party. Conservatives in Canada have taken their cue from those in the United States, as though they were reading from the same ‘playbook’, repeating lies, over and over again, in the hope that the sheer number of repetitions might indicate that the lie has become true. The white supremacists will stop at nothing in order to make North America white again. This would lend a whole new meaning to the old beloved term, ‘Great White North’! Mind you, if one attempts to protest against the ruling party of a communist nation, or any other such dictatorship, one is most likely to end up in jail, at the very least, or, at worst, dead! As if this isn’t bad enough to deal with, for the common citizen, we now have the threat of a third world war, looming on the horizon, to also worry about. So, besides dealing with warring factions inside our own country, we now have to deal with them on a global scale. The Chinese leader Xi Xiping ( I apologize for previously using the phonetic version of spelling, ‘Chi’, as originally depicted in early news reports) has recently admitted that he is contemplating supplying Putin with weapons for his war on Ukraine. During his last visit to Russia, Xi showed his support for Russia, while Putin placated Xi, flattering him with such comments as, “President Xi’s country has the best economy in the world. I am almost jealous!” I have to admit that I was flabbergasted, for that was the first time that I ever heard Putin appease to anyone. But, it is not difficult to understand why Putin has, all of a sudden, sacrificed his megalomaniac principles. He has suffered embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Ukrainians, and he has also sacrificed most of his Russian soldiers, as well as depleting his army of most of their weapons. Putin is in desperate need of fresh troops and armaments. He needs Xi’s help. Xi is playing a dangerous game, in an effort to gain the upper hand on North America. But, it could very well backfire on him. He is colluding with Putin, turning this conflict into a war between the West and the East, capitalism versus communism. Xi is ‘testing the waters’ in order to determine if he can make the same moves on Taiwan that Putin is doing in Ukraine. And, while we have leaders, in the free world, doing all they can to prevent this war from escalating, there are factions, in the free countries, who would like to capitalize on this state of affairs. Certain opportunists in America, such as their former president of the United States, the P.O.T.A.S., ( President of the American Supremacists) and the Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have referred to this conflict as a simple territorial dispute. They believe that the free world should not get involved. I would disagree with them and point out that the majority of Republicans and Democrats believe that it is everyone’s duty to get involved in this event, the outcome of which will affect the rest of the world. DeSantis and the P.O.T.A.S. appear to be of the same deplorable opinion, spouting rhetoric that reflects their feeling that getting involved with the needs of the rest of the world makes one a globalist. And, to their way of thinking, if one is a globalist, then one cannot be a nationalist. Of course, that is, according to them, a nationalist is the only true patriot of America. What bilge water! A nationalist is just another term for a supremacist. I am surprised that the two of them can agree on this, above anything else, for they are constantly contradicting each other, that is, of course, when they are not busy contradicting themselves! It’s like watching two kids, on a teeter totter, or a see-saw, constantly going up and down! What is not surprising, is that the P.O.T.A.S. claims that things would be different if he were in charge again. And, equally not surprising, he would have handed over Ukraine to his ‘good buddy’, Putin, according to him, in order to prevent this type of conflict. In essence, the P.O.T.A.S., in siding with Putin, would have taken on the same role as the dictator of Spain, General Francisco Franco, during the Second World War, when his Nationalist Party of fascists sided with Hitler, in return for Hitler’s assistance during the Spanish Civil War. Paralleling this move, the P.O.T.A.S. would also be emulating another dictator, the Italian leader Benito Mussolini, when his fascist regime collaborated with Hitler, during the Second World War, in order to keep control of the fascist states which Italy annexed and occupied at the beginning of the war. He had hoped that, after France had fallen, Britain would surrender to them. Of course, we all know the outcome of those bad decisions. The evil Nationalist Fascists chose wrongly, and both suffered the same defeat as Hitler. Yes, the P.O.T.A.S. and his would-be Nationalist Party are following in the footsteps of some very infamous nationalists! However, the American Nationalists (supremacists) have still not learned their lesson. Die hard supporters of the P.O.T.A.S. such as the new speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, continue to ‘play politics’. While the P.O.T.A.S. is out there, trying to rally enough supremacist supporters to start another protest, this time in order to prevent him from being arrested and going to jail for even one of his many crimes, should he be justifiably indicted, McCarthy is claiming that the compilation of very serious accusations, against the P.O.T.A.S., is ‘just politics’. Even after all of the evidence against the P.O.T.A.S., for multiple crimes, some of the top officials, in the Republican Party, are attempting to produce the fa-cade that he is innocent of all charges. Instead of working on healing the rift between the people of their country, the P.O.T.A.S.’ party still continue to kow-tow to him and widen the gap in their nation. In a time when we should all be focused on the situation in which there is a very real threat of a global war, a Third World War, some American Republicans, as well as a few Conservative Canadians, are saying, “don’t get involved”. This sounds very much like some British Nationalists, prior to the Second World War. Many of them thought that they should not interfere in ‘territorial disputes’, while Hitler overran Europe. Some of them even secretly supported the German Chancellor, believing that it was necessary in order to ‘make Britain great again’. If this slogan sounds familiar, that’s because it is the very same one which was adopted by the P.O.T.A.S. and his nationalists, prior to his election. Only, they changed the word ‘Britain’ to ‘America’. America’s Nationalists are no different from any other nationalists of the past, who went on to call themselves ‘Nazis’, for short. They are the product of diseased brains, which have produced a very dangerous paranoia and an abnormal fear of anyone who is not of like mind and colour. Unfortunately, their paranoia coincides with a superiority complex which reveals them to be psychopaths. So, is their behavior psychosomatic?
